For Rikard, the Garmin Round Denmark Race is more than just a competition—it’s a true test of skill, endurance, and seamanship. In 2025, he sets sail for his fifth attempt at this legendary offshore challenge, once again taking on the elements singlehanded aboard his trusted XP-44, XAR.

"This race is very special to me, and now it is time to make the challenge for the fifth time," Rikard shares. "I really enjoy the long distances and time spent on the boat. This is as much a race as an adventure, trying to fight the weather and being alert and not making mistakes. I really look forward to August and the start."
The Garmin Round Denmark Race is known for its demanding route, pushing sailors to navigate unpredictable North Sea conditions, strong tidal currents, and the ever-changing Danish coastline. For solo sailors like Rikard, it’s an ultimate challenge—balancing speed with strategic rest, battling fatigue, and making crucial tactical decisions without the support of a crew.

Having completed the race four times before, Rikard knows what it takes to succeed. But every year brings new conditions, fresh challenges, and the constant pursuit of improvement. With thousands of nautical miles of experience under his belt, his sights are set on another strong performance in 2025.
